Barbara Trenholm has been an active member of the Boards of many organizations. She is a member of the Atomic Energy of Canada Limited and Plazacorp Retail Properties Ltd. Boards of Directors. She is a past member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants Board of Directors and a past member and co-chair of the University of New Brunswick Pension Plan for Academic Employees. She is, or has, served as chair of the audit committee of all three Boards. Barbara is a member, and past-president, of the New Brunswick Institute of Chartered Accountants, and has served as a member of the Atlantic School of Chartered Accountancy Board of Governors. She has also chaired numerous education committees at the provincial and national levels and has been instrumental in shaping the face of education in the accounting profession.

Barbara is an active member of the Canadian Academic Accounting Association and the American Accounting Association, and has been a member of a number of these association's committees.

In the local community, Barbara has been involved with numerous not-for-profit organizations, including the Canadian Women's Foundation and the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce. She has served in past as a member of the judging panel for the Chamber's Business Excellence Awards. She hasalso served on other judging panels, including the Atlantic Tractors & Equipment scholarship program, National Post Leaders in Management Education Awards, Junior Achievement, Shad Valley, and the Youth Business Institute.
